New Zealand media have recognized two people who died within the floods. Daniel Newth, a 25-year-old arborist, died whereas kayaking close to his North Shore residence, and Daniel Mark Miller, 34, was discovered useless in a culvert within the Auckland suburb Wairu Valley.
