By Vince D’Writer: Richardson Hitchins, super-lightweight, made a remarkable debut with Matchroom. He was able take immediate control of the bout and earned an eight round TKO victory against Yomar Alamo (20-2, 12KOs) on Saturday night at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Cleveland, Ohio.
Richardson Hitchins, a Brooklyn, New York native, represented Haiti in 2016 Olympics. Five months later, he signed for Mayweather Promotions. The undefeated contender didn’t feel Mayweather Promotions kept him as active as he wanted to be, so he made the decision to switch promotional companies in September 2022.
Eddie Hearn immediately used the new acquisition as the cofeature of the Montana Love Vs Steve Spark DAZN Boxing card. Hitchins was sharp during the opening round of the November 12 comain. He controlled the round using a strong jab.
Hitchins had complete control over the distance and range in the second and third rounds. He continued to work behind the jab, landing some good combinations. Hitchins was dictating pace and range, so Alamo was having difficulty creating any substantial offense.
In between rounds, Alamo’s cornermen were desperately trying to motivate him and get him going, as they repeatedly told Alamo to let his hands go. Unfortunately Alamo didn’t listen to his corner as round after round he gave the appearance of a fighter who was lost and confused.
Alamo was struggling with multiple punches and Richardson Hitchins continued to look like an ring technician, using a high precision offense. Hitchins was able to land and throw any shot he wanted, but Yomar alamo was looking more defeated than he had been.
Hitchins was dominating and pitching a shutout as he reached the eighth round. He was winning every round with ease, and at the end of the eighth, the frustration in Alamo’s corner had reached the boiling point. Alamo’s cornermen were highly upset with what they felt was a lack of effort by their fighter, and as a result they decided to call an end to the contest.
Richardson Hitchins (15-0-7 KOs) won the TKO victory. He made a successful debut for his new promotional company. Hitchins’ victory announcement was greeted with boos due to his public feuding with Montana Love, a Cleveland native.
Hitchins gave Hitchins a score and then he was booed by the Cleveland crowd again when he boldly declared the plan he had for his future in boxing.
“I already said I want Montana Love next. Y’all keep asking me that question, it’s time to ask Montana if he wants to fight me. I already said let’s get it. I came over here to Matchroom, tell him to sign the contract and let’s do it.”
