Natasha Jonas won her third world title in the super welterweight category. She is now the best woman at 154lbs and one of the pound for pound women in the world.
Both women entered this fight as world champions. Both showed world championship spirit by their performances. Jonas won unanimously (100-90. 98-92. 97-93) in 10 hard-fought rounds. Jonas landed big shots from the first round and had her opponent hurt at multiple points across the fight, but Dicaire fired back and didn’t stop coming forward all fight, giving the unified champion a lot to deal with.
Dicaire didn’t slow down in the final rounds. She pushed Jonas against the ropes and fired off some vicious hooks to her body. Jonas was forced by the torrential offense in the second half to use all of her boxing and skill. That skill and the rounds she claimed in the early portion of the fight was enough to secure the victory for Jonas on the judges’ scorecards.

Jonas was the first woman to fight at the Olympics for Team GB. Although she failed to win a World Championship on her first two attempts, Jonas showed incredible heart and determination to win three more over the course of nine months. She is now considered the best fighter at a weight 24 lbs heavier than when she first fought for a title.
There are several options for her to choose from, including a rematch against Katie Taylor, the undisputed lightweight champion, or a fight against Jessica McCaskill (the undisputed welterweight champion). Claressa Shields is the undisputed champion of middleweight and could move back to 154 in order to face Jonas.
“She wants the Katie Taylor Rematch. She wants Jessica McCaskill in all the [welterweight] belts. Claressa Shields are what she wants [at super-welter]. Jonas’ promoter Ben Shalom said to Sky Sports that she feels she’s done everything.
“[A Jonas-Taylor rematch] If we are all thinking about where our futures could take us, the fight that makes the most sense is the one that makes the most sense. We saw what Shields -Marshall did. If we look back and ask “How can we make something really special”, Jonas would be the biggest name from England in women’s boxing. Katie Taylor, Claressa Shields and Jonas are the two biggest stars of the sport.
“That fight for me is going to get the most attention both from casual fans and from the largest audiences. With the support Natasha has received on Sky and Katie Taylor’s presence, I believe it will be the fight that attracts the most attention. We can make that fight if they are sensible and not a sham.

“It must appeal Katie. We respect Katie Taylor massively. She will have seen Tasha’s rise over the past 12 months and I think she would love a legacy fight. If she desires something that is memorable and that fans can actually buy into, then Tasha should fight. I wouldn’t be opposed to Natasha Jonas taking on Katie Taylor at Croke Park.
