When asked by reporters after the win against Hawks if they would like him to play against the Utah Jazz on the following day, he stated that he would. Later, he was asked about the injury to his leg that he sustained after falling in the second half. He walked gingerly but remained in the game. He said that it was his ankle, which felt “pretty sore” after the game, and also addressed some concerns about his shoulder. “I don’t know what happened. But some days I can’t lift my arm up. And when I go block shots, I really feel it,” the Sixers superstar said. “I don’t know what’s going on. But it’s whatever.”

Noah Levick @NoahLevick
Joel Embiid said he plans to play tomorrow, though his left ankle is “pretty sore” — had tape on it at the podium.
Embiid also said he’s sometimes not been able to lift his right arm up. He is not sure what the problem with his shoulder is, but feels it sometimes when blocking shots. – 11:14 PM

Let’s correct that: Sixers beat Hawks, 121-109. They are now 6-7.
Huge Embiid games: 42, 10, and 6. Harris and Maxey scored big nights. Sixers shot 56 % from the field.
They were not able to win comfortably. 39 minutes for Embiid. Tomorrow, back-to-back. – 10:15 PM

Kyle Neubeck @KyleNeubeck
Way more interesting than it should have been in the 4th, and that might hurt the Sixers in the second half of the back to back tomorrow, but 42 Embiid points and a W is always good phillyvoice.com/sixers-vs-hawk… – 10:08 PM

Final: Sixers win, 121-109. Atonement (a little bit) for their terrible offensive performance in Atlanta. Sixers move up to 6-7 in the standings.
Embiid scored 42/10/6 for the win and needed only 25 shots to achieve this feat. Maxey scored 26/9 shooting 10-18. Sixers shot 65.5% inside the 3pt line – 10:07 PM

Final: Sixers 121, Hawks 110. After the Sixers had a 27-point lead, things got a little dicey. However, they made enough shots in final minutes to win. Embiid finished with 42-10-6. Maxey with 26. Maxey with 26 and 8. Sixers shot 55.7 percent and scored 34 (!) points. – 10:06 PM

Philly and Atlanta split this home-and-home series, and the Sixers improve to 6-7 on the season – with a chance to get back to .500 tomorrow night here against Utah.
Joel Embiid scored 42-10-6 for Philly, and Trae Young got 27-11 for Atlanta. – 10:06 PM

Dave Early @DavidEarly
It’s not really that Embiid has played 35 min. It’s that his 35 min looked like a 12 round fight. They should have been able get him on the ice when they were up to 27. – 10:02 PM

Philly led with 27 points in the 3rd quarter.
Joel Embiid will have to play 40 mins in a game he currently has 37-7-6 in. Atlanta has cut that lead down to 9 with 5 remaining minutes. – 9:51 PM

Rich Hoffman @rich_hofmann
Embiid is at 35 minutes and has five minutes left. He is clearly gassed. You also can’t take him out of the game now.
This is not great for a game where the Sixers led 27 to 3 in the third quarter. – 9:50 PM

Kyle Neubeck @KyleNeubeck
I think this has been a great Embiid performance and a good game overall but the big man being at 35 minutes and the Sixers only being up 9 with 5 and change to play is suboptimal – 9:50 PM

Tim Bontemps @TimBontemps
That is one highlight that rookie AJ Griffin will be able to smile about from tonight’s game: a dunk over Joel Embiid. – 9:47 PM

Derek Bodner @DerekBodnerNBA
Atlanta’s surge was slowed by a huge Niang 4 point play, but the Hawks have cut down their deficit of 27 points to just 15 going into the fourth quarter.
Embiid (34/6/6) and Maxey (20/7) have been great, but the Sixers’ bench, and notably Paul Reed, have struggled. – 9:33 PM

Rich Hoffman @rich_hofmann
Good news: Sixers lead 15 points after three quarters.
Bad news: It feels like we’re back in 2019 again with the non-Embiid minutes. – 9:33 PM

Gina Mizell @ginamizell
Sixers 99, Hawks 80 at the end the third. Atlanta significantly cut into what was a 27-point deficit, but Niang’s four-point play curtailed that momentum a bit. Embiid’s 24-6-6. Maxey scored 20 points and had 7 assists. Sixers still shoot around 60 percent. – 9:32 PM

But if you can explain to me how Collins has a technical foul and Tucker doesn’t, turn in your 500-word essay before midnight. – 9:19 PM

Derek Bodner @DerekBodnerNBA
It’s been sort of lost in the shuffle here because the Sixers are struggling in so many different ways to start the season, but Joel Embiid’s shooting as well from midrange as he ever has. Was shooting 56.5% from 16′ to 3pt line coming in, and has been automatic tonight. – 9:16 PM

Austin Krell @NBAKrell
After a long transition give and go, Embiid hit Milton hard on a back-cut. Doc Rivers pumped his fist. Evidently, he was very happy with the way it was executed. Sixers up 89-62 in the middle of the third. Shooting 62% in the field. – 9:15 PM

Derek Bodner @DerekBodnerNBA
Although Embiid is having a huge game, which he is, Maxey’s return to form has been huge for the Sixers. He’s pushing the ball up the floor, getting to his spots, hitting his perimeter shots and finding a good balance of attacking and distributing. Maxey is 20/6 on 8-11 – 9:11 PM

Joel Embiid slipped, which I didn’t see (definitely has some ankle pain while still playing), but Maxey and he at the other end had it happen earlier.
Furkan Korkmaz has been forced to withdraw from the team due to a left knee injury that I didn’t see. He played well in his first stint. – 8:38 PM

At the end of the first, Sixers had 37 points and Hawks had 24. Embiid was a tremendous player from the start, scoring 14-4-4 and 5-of-7 FG. House (5 and 6 points, respectively) and Korkmaz (6 and 6 points, provided a nice boost to the bench. Sixers are shooting 62% from the floor and have 11 points against 5 Hawks turnovers. – 8:15 PM

Derek Bodner @DerekBodnerNBA
37-24 Sixers at halftime. 14 points from Embiid’s 5-7 shooting. Furkan Korkmaz scored them 6 points in just 3 minutes from the bench.
The Sixers have done a better job of pushing the ball and getting into offense early, which has allowed them to attack mismatches – 8:14 PM

Tim Bontemps @TimBontemps
Trae Young was very unhappy when he went to the bench at halftime. He has 13 points. The Hawks are 4-for-15 with him and have 11.

Victor Wembanyama takes every opportunity to improve. That’s what makes him confident in responding to Shaquille O’Neal. “I haven’t really seen anybody pressure him. I’ve seen a lot of offense. But when you’re playing against the 7-footer, you got to take it to him. The real test is when he gets there. Zion is going at him. He will be confronted by Embiid. Joker will come at him. So that will be a true test,” Shaq shared his views on Wembanyama’s potential in House of Bounce. “Right now, all the clips I’m seeing on him are just about him offensively. 7’3, with a great soft touch, and he plays like a guard. But it depends on him if he wants to be the best big man ever,” he concluded. -via BasketNews, November 11, 2022
