Studio Ghibli posted a teaser video a few days ago that showed its logo and Lucasfilms’s, along with a photo of a Grogu figurine. We now know what those tweets are hinting at. Studio Ghibli created a short film together with the two companies. It’s called Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies and features the beloved alien toddler, The Mandalorian, with strong affinity for The Force and the “susuwatari”, from Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away.
According to IGN, Katsuya Kondo directed the short film. He’s well-known for his character design work and a style that’s closely linked with Studio Ghibli’s films. It also features music by Ludwig Göransson, who composed the scores for the previous two seasons of The Mandalorian. Three years after the debut of The Mandalorian, Zen – Grogu, and Dust Bunnies will be streaming on Disney+ today, November 12th.
Grogu will be back, and will be reunited again with “Mando”, after having left Luke’s Jedi Temple to train. A trailer released by Disney during its D23 expo in September gave fans a glimpse at what to expect when the show returns sometime next year.
